Just finished this wonderful book from Mitch Albom, somewhat different from his other book "Five people you meet in heaven" but similarly thought provoking. A couple of things i want to mention from the book and this is the first.
Have you ever really had a teacher? One who saw you as a raw but previous thing, a jewel that, with wisdom, could be polished to a proud shine? If you are lucky enough to find your way to such teachers, you will always finid your way back. Sometimes it is only in your head. Sometimes it is right alongside their beds. - Tuesdays with Morrie
This was the second last paragraph in the book and the one that got the most reaction out of me. I msged Mr Dominc Chua, my GP and civic tutor back in VJC, thanking him for being a teacher to me. Perhaps this is rather sudden...i didn't know what made me do it too. He was one person that i kept thinking about when i read through the book. Maybe he was the last teacher i had that really cared. I remember days where we would sit and chat in the canteen about how our classes are conducted. The thing is, he listened. Sometimes, he would even use my suggestions regarding how GP was conducted. He bothered with little notes to encourage the class. He once pulled me aside after a holidays asking me why i lacked drive in my studies after the holidays. It was true...and he realised it before i did. He was sensitive. He was great with human relations. He was...a teacher to me. Wonder how he is doing in school now... miss being in his presence.
