Fashion Mixed Up

My parents kept nagging at me for "underdressing" for school, especially my mother, complaining about the berms and flowery shorts that i wear to school. She made hell lot of noise whenever she saw me in my flip flops as i proceeded to school... now that my flip flops is dead, i'm starting to suspect that she did something to it, accelerating it's death. Anyway, the newspaper reported about undergrads underdressing in our local varsities. It's in "urban", the subsidary fashion paper of ST with pictures of under grads in casual wear. I don't understand why we have to dress up so elaborately to go school. They talked about respect and stuff but my lecturers are all in polo tees. What do you expect me to wear? shirt and tie? Ridiculous man. I just wanna study in comfortable clothings. Gimme a break man! as if preparing for the tutorials is not enough to fill up my time table! Now you wan me to flip through bimbotic costly fashion magazines to get ideas of everychanging fashion and spend my whatever free time to shop for new clothes?! Urban! even mentioned about 'life beyond slippers', urging young people to buy sneakers like nike, adidas or even opt for more fashionable birkenstock. Hey, not everyone is as rich as me to own beckenstock and nika or addiddas... i don't see WHY we must go for those expensive stuff when a decent pair of flip flops cost $5 and can serve me as well. I can use that kinda money to...hmm.

Took this during the open house of Singapore's Fourth University - UniSIM. Now degrees are offered under the name of Singapore Institute of Management (there are even biomedical engineering degrees...weird, a mgt sch with a science degree?) However, SIM (different from UniSIM), continues to offer degrees under the names of University of London and other foreign universities.; 02 September, 2005 23:28
