Lackluster
Just caught the lions match againt laos moments ago and saw a side who was out performed in every single aspect. When the young cubs were heading overseas for the biannual games, i wanted to post an encouragement message to tell them Singaporeans will support whoever's wearing the jersey with the red & white flag with stars on it. Then i was thankful for not making that harsh judgment because i certainly didn't cheer for them as they kicked around on ch 5. There were totally no support upfront, lack of movement (on the ball or off the ball) and the whole team bloody walked around the pitch while the laoz soccer dudes beat them flat. Though we got an early goal, i was rather ashamed at the way they played. Fine if they're not technically gifted, all i wanted to see was some fighting spirit. Goal 2010... kiss my ass.

Living by the riverside is certainly a different experience from those who stay in blocks facing...other blocks. This was a view from the upper deck on cosy bay which ah mei requested. I thought it was alright initially but the more i look at it, the more i wonder what's there to look at. Any comments?
You're right, nothin to look at :P Hmm never been to that place.. Anything interesting on the right side of the picture? I think too much boring stuff on the left side of the picture, and I'm not certain what the subject of this picture is too.
Anyway, why is the picture so noisy? It's almost blotchy.. Bad compression? Almost looks like a camera phone picture.

Colour photographs have 2 types of contrast - colour and luminosity. Black and white photographs only have 1 - luminosity (aka tone). At one look, the photograph is a pitch of muddy black with numerous specular highlights in the lamps. It is completely devoid of any detail from three-quarter tone onwards. You've only made use of 1/5 of the total possible tonality in a photo.

totally agree with you man about the way the spore team played.. so sad eh.. sigh.. want to support but see them play until like dat so xian.. haha :)
J gave a nice explanation. I would have just said the pic is pitch black on my monitor.

sorry, don't know much about what makes a good photo but i requested for it cos of the beautiful thought of myself walking along there with a loved one, safely secure in his arms, on a peaceful windy night. (:
to me, photos that relive the best memories and help envision a great future are good enough for me.
Well, for me there are different types of photos. Ones that I take for artistic value (at least to me), those I take for memory and those that I take just for the sake of taking them (for no apparent reason). No harm in taking either types of photos. Guess we're just giving our opinions on the 'artistic' side of the photo? :)
About the tonal range thingy, could it be caused by high contrast settings/post production? I noticed in some of your photos, the quality of the photos themselves (nothing to do with ur photography skills.. i belief) were just bad. This is the worst by far.. Did you post process? What software do you use?
joel: the tonality thing wasn't caused by my post processing but during the shot itself. This was never meant to be a B&W. It's a lesson learnt. Probably need to take out the next few photos...
