Manfrotto Suaku

I was looking at my new three-legged fren yesterday on the journey back home and was constantly amazed by the different types of features available in a amaturer entry level tripod. Perhaps i was giving the "ooohh-so-this-is-how-it-works" look all the time when i examined the ball head, there was this uncle sitting across staring at me. As i got off the train, he approached me and sparked off a conversation.

He is a professional photographer from philippines who shot at Miss Universe and the different pagents in his home country. According to him, he has two M and one G. Of course he praised about the G one which i can ill afford. Anyway, this was the first time i spoke to a pro-stranger.

Before that i was at the mica building looking at some nudes exhibition from this kumar guy. They were all mono with many different poses, none standing up. The subject/model is either sitting down or lying back on something. The expressions were refreshing at first (maybe 5?) but it got rather repititive across the 20 odd photos. Lighting was nicely done but there was a lack of curves or rather, the insufficient use of the body's natural curvature. Maybe i'm too young to understand the complexity behind the photos...

As i browsed through the last photos, the exhibition assistant approached me. From our conversation, i got to know the details on how to go about booking the gallery for my own exhibition. It's my dream. There was one day i woke up with this dream where i was at my own exhibition looking at my own photos framed in this large glass panel of A2 size. It was very satisfying. One day...maybe on my 23rd birthday...i'll have my very own exhibition.

Exposure Bias: -1/3 EV

As i work towards my ultimate goal of setting up an exhibition, i wonder why i continue taking these lousy shots. This is one of them. Something which i don't particularly fancy yet stuck with me. I'm going to begin a series called "Emulation", a tribute to the photoblogs around the World/Europe/SIngapore...? Sort of imitations of their shots.

well, this picture reminds me of my younger days while i stil had time to really sit down there and looked at the sky, but at that time i wasnt able to think of the meaning of life, love or sth as those poets, authors and philosophers do. now, even i could think of those sometimes, i find myself wont have time, or rather never plan to have a time, to sit down at such an open place, to just enjoy the beauty of nature... sad? no, life is so fast-paced and we have to move on... :)

I took this at a carpark, not exactly the type of place you call "open place" and i have to admit that i wasn't enjoying much of the nature as i was smoked by the multiple exhaust pipes around me.

=) botanical gardens will be a nice place.
